ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE CAMPAIGN
Our first project/campaign is the
electronic cigarette which is an ingenius product that allows a smoker to enjoy smoking without causing any harm to his or her body.
The cigarette contains nicotine, which is the addictive part of smoking, but does not contain any of the 4000 plus chemicals (including carbon monoxide and tar) found in a standard cigarette.
It is therefore a lot healthier than a normal cigarette and can be used as a nicotine replacement. It can also help a smoker to quit as it is similar to other methods including nicotine patches, tablets and chewing gum but is more innovative as it has the psychological aspect of the hand to mouth action and smoke is blown out in the form of water vapour.
Reasons behind the campaign:
Our marketing research showed that in 2010 21% of the UK population were smokers and the government's aim is to reduce this to 10% by 2020. We believe this product can help to reduce the figure of tobacco smokers at a faster rate.
Cancer Research UK states that Around 86% of lung cancer deaths in the UK are caused by tobacco smoking" and also states that "Overall tobacco smoking is estimated to be responsible for more than a quarter of cancer deaths in the UK, that is, around 43,000 deaths in 2007".
Benefits of smoking the electronic cigarette
Eco-friendly: The water vapour produced is not harmful to the environment and is therefore eco-friendly. It does not burn so there is no ash tray required and there are no buds to dispose of so there is no need to recycle.
Non-flammable: There is no need to light an electronic cigarette so there is no danger of fire.
Unrestricted smoking: As water vapour is not harmful, electronic cigarettes beat the smoking ban and is therefore allowed to be smoked anywhere e.g. on aeroplane.
Rechargeable: The lithium battery can be charged on your computer, in your car or in your wall so you can use it again and again and having different chargers makes it more convenient for you.
Cost-effective: On average, a 20 a day smoker will spend £2442 on cigarettes. With our product they would spend £335 so it is a cheaper alternative.
